Gaining Maximum Storage
This kitchen was all about opening up the space and gaining maximum storage. The original cabinets had major wear and tear, lacking storage space and functionality. Also the oven was in a diagonal position which took up a lot of space, so by reconfiguring the layout as little as possible, we were able to gain the corner kidney storage as well as a bit more of counter space.
All the ceiling soffits were removed in order to increase the wall cabinet heights, which again, leads to more storage. To give the feel of an open kitchen, we also eliminated the peninsula and extended the sink wall to make space for a big wide drawer and pullouts. The opening to the kitchen was unnecessarily wide, so we made it slightly narrower to accommodate another tall pullout pantry, which "sparks joy" for the client. We went from dark cherry cabinets to white and gray handleless cabinets with glass backsplash to elevate the crisp, clean, yet inviting look.
